Wej: Higashi no Eden (Eden of the East) Review

YAY!! Eden of the East, one of the more enjoyable animes of this Spring season 2009. And here is the review!!!

Animation – 8/10
Since it just came out, you should expect it to be well animated, which it is. No bad moments where something catches your eyes that is messed up and it bugs you the rest of the episode. Nothing else I can really say.

Art style – 8/10
The arts style is different. The girls look a little weird…at least the main girl. Female characters 7/10.

And the scary looking one…

Sexy??? No, but I think she may want to cut off my “Johnny”…

The guys look normal, if not well done. The main character is someone I will remember, which is why this gets a higher rating overall. Male characters 9/10.

Also, here is a dog with wings…don’t know why

Sound – 9/10
I will be counting sound as music, as all sound from almost all animes will be normal…and it all depends on the quality of the video, which the anime shouldn’t be punished when the sound is low quality because the sub group sucks… (This anime was actually really good quality, mainly gg subs)

The first opening isn’t all that amazing, and I think it is done by an American band. Though it can get catchy, not really my type of music… (I cheated and looked at Avalon’s review, so if you want the opening, go to his review)

The ending song is fun, I really started to like it. It is even differently animated, which I like (And if you are smart enough to think, it predicts the ending, which i guessed from about 3 eps or so in).

Also, the reason why I am giving it such a high score… ENGLISH VOICES ARE DONE BY ENGLISH PEOPLE. An anime first…as far as I have seen so far at least.

Why I did that?? Because gg subs decided, in random episodes, to leave in commercials. Why?? I have no fucking idea…

Story – 9.5/10
This is probably what made the anime enjoyable. I like it when stories open something up, at a good pace, with each episode, and wait till the last few to tell you the full thing. It makes it very enjoyable to watch, and leaves a lot of room for predictions.

The story is about a guy…

Who appears naked…

And he doesn’t even know why. In fact, he doesn’t even remember his name…

The only thing he remembers is movies…which I assume that is what this moment is all about:

Of course, when a guy appears naked in the USA, they are not just going to let him go.

Unless his cock is HUGE!

At any rate, he finds passports in an apartment that apparently belongs to him and decides to go with the Japanese one. He ends up in Japan and goes to where he lives…which is in a mall… that a lot of naked NEETS were, and they left their cell phones…

And he has this thingy…

He has a phone, which a woman, Juiz, on the other line always answers. She is really good at getting things done. He finds out that he has A LOT of money, and is part of a plot to try and improve Japan.

What does he do to improve Japan? Don’t ask me… He stops other people like him, from destroying places, but it never goes past that. I am guessing more will be revealed with a OVA or whatever it is, that is coming out at a later date.

Also, this anime is obsessed with the word “Johnny”. Used as lingo for a passport, a person thing, and a penis.

Enjoyment – 9.5/10
Hell…everything kept me entertained. There were some slow moments, but even those were mostly funny.

Characters – 9/10
The main character is a really likable person. The main girl is alright, but there is another annoying male character going after her, though we can’t blame him. I blame the girl this time.

Even the creepy fat Hikikomori is awsome in the end.

Overall – 9/10
One of the best of this seasons. It isn’t one of my favorites, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t good. It was great, and will recommend this anime, if you haven’t already watched it =P
